EFL Championship club Swansea City say they have received no correspondence from Newcastle United over a proposed transfer for Ghanaian star Andre Ayew.
The Black Stars player is reportedly a target for United manager Rafael Benitez, who is looking to bolster his squad – especially in attack – and Ayew would represent a great addition at St James Park.
However, WalesOnline reports that no contact has been made by the North East club in regards to the elder Ayew brother.
However, interest from Turkey, and specifically Besiktas, is much more concrete and dialogue appears to be open between the Istanbul side and the Swans.
A season-long loan offer is on the table for the former West Ham man, who failed to hit top form when he returned to the Liberty Stadium from East London in January 2018.
Club-record signing Ayew didn’t trouble the scoring charts following his £18million transfer, and he could not prevent Swansea’s relegation from the English Premier League at the end of the 2017/18 campaign.
Ayew featured for Swansea in their pre-season friendly against Yeovil last week, coming on as a second-half substitute.
The Welsh side is set to face Magdeburg, Eibar and Freiburg in friendlies between now and the end of the month, before opening their Championship campaign with a match away to Sheffield United on August 4.
