The Narh-Bita College has held its 10th graduation ceremony at which the guest of honour, the Dean of the School of Medical Science of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technogy (KNUST), Prof. Francis Agyemang Yeboah, commended the college for expanding its spheres and granting opportunities to students to achieve their academic goals.
He advised the graduates that their achievements should spur them on to higher heights as ambassadors and project the image of the college positively.
Prof. Yeboah added that the graduates must eschew over-dependency on available jobs and start volunteering their services in hospitals and other health institutions even if they did not receive any monetary reward.
According to him, that endeavour might be their opportunity to gain the necessary experience and skills that would open bigger opportunities for them.
Congratulations to graduates
Ghana The President of the college, Dr Edward Narh, in his address, congratulated the graduates on their achievements.
He said out of a total number of 86 physician assistants of the graduating class of 2018, seven had first class, 60 had second class upper and 13 got second class lower division.
Dr Narh said their results in the Medical and Dental Council Licentiate Examination had been the most outstanding with 82 per cent pass rate in 2017.
In the Nursing and Midwifery Council Examination of 2017, out of the 131 Registered General Nursing Students presented, 90, representing 68.7 per cent, were successful.
The college also had 85.5 per cent passes in the NMC licenciate for the Registered Nurse Assistant Clinical students.
Dr Narh announced the introduction of HND Pharmacy Technician, Theology and Missions and Alternative Medicines programmes into the curriculum of Narh-Bita College.
He appealed to the government to improve the laudable public-private partnership policy by giving grants and soft loans to tertiary private health institutions to purchase medical equipment and books which were usually costly.
Dr Narh explained that since science and technology were the bases for the industrialisation of a nation, the government should endeavour to expand and intensify science education from the primary to the tertiary level so that when that was achieved, much of the problem of unemployment and dependency on other nations would be minimised.
