Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper,Mr. Kwesi Pratt Jnr has announced that he will Radio Gold’s flagship political talk show, ‘Alhaji and Alhaji’ will be airing on his private TV station, Pan African TV.
The veteran journalist who disclosed the information today Thursday May 16, 2019 said this week’s session of the political talk show will be broadcast live on Pan Africa TV.
This comes after Radio Gold, a pro Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) was shut down last week by the National Communications Authority (NCA).
Mr. Pratt who has been a regular panelist of the show for over a decade indicated that the show will come off on Pan Africa TV this Saturday at 9am.
He stated that NDC Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu Constituency, Alhaji A.B. A Fuseini, Leading member of the defunct National Reform Party (NRP), Dr. David Percy and North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa will also join in on the show.
Radio Gold along with another pro-NDC radio station, Radio Gold were closed down on Thursday May 9, 2019.
A statement from the NCA said: “Radio stations operating without valid authorisations, as determined by the 2017 FM Broadcasting Audit, are being shut down with immediate effect as an enforcement action in view of the decision of the Electronic Communications Tribunal”.
Mr Pratt has meanwhile called for the revocation of the law that empowers the NCA to shut down electronic media stations.
The veteran journalist argues that the law violates the constitution, which prohibits the use of license as a requirement to own and manage a radio station.
