It was widely reported in the media after the Deputy General Secretary of the opposition NDC, Koku Anyidoho was arrested that he had been charged with treason. This was in connection with comments he made on an Accra based radio station, that was intepreted as inciting a coup to usurp President Akufo Addo,while making reference to a historical event where father of the current Preaident was over thrown through a coup.
However lawyer for the accused Victor Adawudu has clarified that his client Koku Anyidoho has not been charged for treason or any other offence as reported
earlier.He indicated that Anyidoho can only be charged afterinvestigations have been completed.
“He has not been charged for any offence. The Police only
cautioned and investigated him for an offence of treason.He can only be charged after they finish investigations and they get evidence which will support any charge.”
