NDC 2020 flagbearer hopeful, Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbin appears to have crashed out of the flagbearership race as a result of constant bashing of the Former President John Dramani Mahama, who is himself hoping to lead the party to victory in 2020. According to a reliable source, Mr Bagbin’s campaign is in shambles, as reports claim some members of his team are moving to “favourable” camps.
Consequently, the Nadowli-Kaleo Member of Parliament is planning to withdraw from the NDC Presidential flagbearership race after the party’s National Congress, which comes off this weekend Saturday 17th November 2018, to focus on running his constituency for political survival.
This was disclosed by a member of his campaign communication team , during his tour of the Central Region.
The declaration is being planned to take place in Kaleo, where a senior Party official will accompany Mr Bagbin to the Constituency to tell the people that the party has advised Bagbin to withdraw in favour of John Dramani Mahama.
It is anticipated is that after the declaration, John Mahama will go to Bagbin’s Constituency after the Presidential primaries where he is tipped to win, to plead with delegates to vote for Bagbin. Whether this manipulation will take place or not, we wait to see.
Bagbin is currently said to be stockpiling logistics such as motorbikes and tricycles, cooking utensils, cloths in readiness for his Parliamentary campaign. He has always targeted a few influential people in the constituency with some ‘goodies’ in order to win votes.
Mr Bagbin is of the view that older generation would always vote for him for old times’ sake. His problem is the youth but being the materialistic type, he knows how to handle them.
