Popular spare parts dealing hub, Abbosey Okai in Accra has been gutted by fire.

An initial assessment by officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) faulted the burning of worn-out tyres close to the shops as the cause of the outbreak, JoyNews Fostina Sarfo has reported.

Eyewitnesses say the shops caught fire at about 4 pm Sunday. Fire service personnel arrived at about 5 pm and battled the inferno for at least two hours.

The extent of damage is yet to be assessed.

The place has currently been cordoned off by the police as an assessment pf the damage continues.
